Max and Erma’s Restaurant: Sumptuous and Imaginative Dining in Edinburgh

Max and Erma’s Restaurant originally opened more than 35 years ago, and they bring every morsel of that experience to every one of their many locations throughout Indiana and the Midwest. The story of this popular franchise restaurant in Edinburgh is an interesting one. In 1972, two restaurateurs named Todd and Barry meandered into a small bar in Columbus Ohio. The bar was owned by a nice couple whose names were Max and Erma. The guys bought the place on a handshake and four smiles, and the rest, as the keep saying, is history.

The vision for the cuisine was all-American food, and a casual, friendly atmosphere with service that makes the customer feel at home. Over the years, the duo has built their dream into a solid reality.
They have not rested on their laurels and continuous success along the way, but continually do good market research and meticulously spruce up business practices in each store, with a passion for across the board excellence that has been their mainstay through the years.

At Max and Erma’s, success starts with the food. All ingredients are high-quality and fresh, and preparation is done “the right way, not the easy way.” Max and Erma’s Restaurant has become one of the top companies of its kind in the United States.

The menu itself is full of imaginative, tempting treats. Just a couple of Max and Erma’s signature favorite dishes might include the Singapore Salmon, grilled, then glazed with tangy Asian sauce, or the M&E Fall-off-the-Bone BBQ Combo, with a tender barbecued chicken breast, one-half slab of flavor-filled ribs, cole slaw and onion rings. Kids love the Ragin’ Cajun burger and the Backyard BBQ Bacon Cheddar burger, served with richly-seasoned fries. And everybody loves M&E’s Chicken Pot Pie, served on a bed of perfect mashed potatoes and covered with puff pastry. You can’t get more American than that.
Try one of the gourmet sodas along with your meal, like the Watermelon Lemonade. Dessert is likewise an adventure at Max and Erma’s; dig into the decadent house favorite White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies, or their new signature Funnel Cake Fries, served with yummy strawberry sauce for dipping. There’s a special kid’s menu too, just right for the little ones.

M&E offers some spectacular Party Platters to go, only asking that you call 45 minutes before you want to pick them up for your gathering. Next time you really need a hand to feed a big group, consider Max and Erma’s Santa Fe, Hula Bowl or Southern Fried Chicken to go.
